You're In Luck Friend

I'm not sure why we have been holding out putting our new pattern prints in the shop, but they have finally arrived! Up until now, the only place to get them was at We Are 1976. My FAVORITE shop in Dallas of course! If you like plaid, houndstooth, burberry, argyle AND birds you are in luck my friend. Get them in our shop while they last! Our brand new, ecomm bee things website is COMING SOON!

science

I've decided to update the kid's room. They don't know this yet, but I'm thinking of a science theme. Calder loves space, everything about the body, and Milo likes dinosaurs. Of course my first change will be the artwork and my first stop is antique print store on etsy. They have soooo many cool vintage prints to choose from. Here are a few of my favs.

kate spade Saturday

I love kate spade. I'm not necessarily the kate spade girl, but I love the brand image and quality of products. I have owned a few bags and dresses over the years, but wear them out mainly for wedding and showers. But the new 'lower priced' brand kate spade Saturday is right up my alley, although I apparently fall out of their target demographic :) Saturday feels more casual like the name implies and is at a lower price point. Recently they had a sneak peek sale of fab.com and I immediately snatched up the half circle bag in bright blue and the mod tea pot and cups. They just launched a bright yellow store in Tokyo and will be coming to New York this spring.

neon!

Okay I know it's everywhere you look, but I still loooove a pop of neon. These paper airvases were designed by Toraful Architects in Japan and you can get them at this cool Australian shop, Upon A Fold. If you're not feeling neon, they have black as well.

the greyhound of the sea

I've been meaning to post these amazing photos of the 63-foot-long fin whale skeleton at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. The room is just large enough to house the skeleton and when you walk in the whale song is playing and a huge shadow is cast along the wall. It took my breath away!

fab.com

We are so excited to be featured on fab.com this week. At the time of this post the sale will officially end in 2 days and 14 hours. All of our big prints are on sale for $35 dollars! So get 'em while the sale lasts. You do have to have an account to enter the site, but it is well worth it. I just bought a Saturday by Kate Spade bag before they hit stores. WOOHOO!

puka puka

I stumbled across this site looking for a new mobile for our home. We already have at least 5 hanging, but I found a new spot and need yet another. Heck, even my son is named after the kinetic artist Alexander Calder. Check out the Australian company Puka Puka for some really cool mobiles. They'll make you happy.

Dirt

If you love succulents, flowers, cactus, air plants, and recycled materials and happen to live in Dallas you have to check out Dirt in Oakcliff. One of the owners, Sonya, describes her style as "modern vintage with an artsy edge." I wanted everything, but ended up bringing home a pencil cactus and aloe plant. Check it out!

japanese style

I was recently in NYC for work. I didn't have a lot of time to shop, but I always find a couple of hours to visit my two favorite Japanese retailers, 45rpm and Uniqlo. Uniqlo is the Japanese version of Top Shop or H&M. Lots of basics at really great prices and the best part is the Japanese cuts and styles. 45rpm, on the other hand, is very expensive and very unique. It's safe to say that you won't see many people walking around with the same shirt on. Neither shops are great for online shopping, so the next time you are in NYC be sure to check them out.
